Like all sectors of a complete economy, the aviation sector also boasts of highly sought after airline jobs which command six-figure annual salaries and allowances. These are airline jobs like Aeronautical Engineer, Pilot, Air Traffic Controller, Flight Instructor, Flight Attendant, etc. Sure, the love of a particular airline job has to be there in you before pursuing your career along that chosen path. But one thing is that, many people would love to take up an airline job and among this category of people, few of them are willing to go through the kind of rigours of scientific calculations involved in the training processes, right?
One airline job that is common to all air travel passengers is that of a Flight Attendant. Almost anyone who fancies an airline work environment can take up this interesting air cabin job that makes one a proud member of the select flight crew. Being a Flight Attendant with an airline depends on the company’s specific requirements but the job needs no rocket science knowledge. Usually, the basic requirements you need to have are good communication skills in any of the world’s major language, public relations and interpersonal skills, good customer service, some knowledge of culinary skills and so forth. Among reasons accomplished Flight Attendants give to those who are contemplating taking to this airline job is the free opportunity to travel around and explore the world. Many airlines cover international destinations and have enough arrangements in place for their flights’ crew accommodation at those places. Using this opportunity, being a Flight Attendant affords one a free air ticket for travel to these places without a dime to pay. In fact, it is a perfect opportunity to go shopping for those exotic things you have always dreamt of buying; things which are only unique to that city or country, for example, dairy milk from Holland. Two, being on an airline job as a Flight Attendant is a good way of meeting different people like celebrities, royalties, sportsmen and women, musicians, actors and actresses and other famous people. When this happens, you can take autographs or photographs of those people you love or see as role models. Like me, I do take pictures with such people for as they say, opportunities come around only once. I store my picture collections in a dedicated album where I can always make reference to, eeven in years to come.
Three, being a Flight Attendant is an airline job that affords you a considerable number of days off air travel. This is of course, good for your health. You will also get to relax more often especially if you have a family or children to look after. Even if not married, having time for yourself to do other things is equally important. Good airline jobs that are well negotiated with the airline companies are rewarding and the job of a Flight Attendant is no different. On average, you may be lucky to get between 10 to 15 days off for each month of operation. That is about five months per year on vacation!
Another great benefit of airline jobs like that of a Flight Attendant is the cheap air ticket offers and huge discounts on travel packages given for family or friends who may wish to accompany them on any flight. In some cases like end of year travel packages, Flight Attendants get free air tickets for immediate family members; tickets which cover the entire air travel. Typical airline jobs like those of Pilots, Flight Instructors and Flight Attendants belong to the air cabin crew while ‘off-air’ jobs are Customer Care Service, Airline Security, and Air Traffic Controllers. Air Force and Air National Guard jobs belong to Government airline jobs schedules. Being airborne, airline jobs are naturally risky and as per international regulations, they come with a wonderful remuneration package which includes health and life insurances, 401(K) retirement scheme, employee investment plan, credit union membership privilege, post-flight bonus allowances and more depending on the airline. Personal benefits derived from an airline job of a Flight Attendant’s nature are the independence and flexibility of managing your time to accommodate all your needs. Getting an airline job is not as easy as the benefits that come with it because of the large number of applications for positions which outweigh the number of vacancies. This is however getting better with more airlines coming into the industry, translating to an increase in the number of airline jobs. Some established airlines like Emirates, Qantas and Cathay Pacific Airlines are constantly expanding too. All these should make you think just once in deciding to end your long career search. Good luck.
